An open trap bar (also called a hex bar) for 2-inch Olympic plates. You stand inside the frame and hold the side handles, so the load sits in line with your body rather than in front of your shins. That makes trap bar deadlifts easier to learn than a straight-bar deadlift, and the same bar works for shrugs and farmer's carries.
Buy the bar on its own if you already have 2-inch plates, or as a package with 45kg to 200kg of cast iron, bumper or tri grip plates.

Which Plates Should I Choose?
-
Cast iron: the most common choice for a home gym. Fine for deadlifts that you lower under control, but loud and hard on floors if dropped.
-
Bumper: rubber plates built to be dropped. Choose these if you train on a hard floor or expect to drop the bar at the end of a heavy set.
-
Tri grip: plates with three built-in hand grips, so they're easier to carry and to load on and off the bar.
All three package types cost the same at each weight, so pick on floor and noise rather than price. If you're new to trap bar deadlifts, 60kg to 100kg of plates is enough for most people for the first few months; the heavier packages suit lifters who already deadlift regularly.

Finishing Your Setup
If you're buying the bar on its own, check your plates have a 50mm hole. You can add plates separately from the cast iron plates, bumper plates or tri grip plates pages. A pair of Olympic spring collars stops plates sliding during carries, EVA floor mats protect the floor where you lift, and a plate storage rack keeps everything off the floor between sessions. For squats and presses you'll still want a straight 2-inch Olympic barbell.
FAQs
Will my plates fit?
Only if they're 2-inch (50mm) Olympic plates. 1-inch standard plates won't fit.
Does the package weight include the bar?
No. "60kg Cast Iron Plates" means the bar plus 60kg of plates.
What exercises can I do with it?
Trap bar deadlifts, shrugs, farmer's carries and loaded walks are the main ones. Some people also use it for a squat-style lift, keeping the chest up and the hips lower than in a deadlift.
How much is delivery?
£9.99 for the bar on its own and £19.99 to £44.99 for the plate packages, to England and Wales. The full table is above.
How fast will it arrive?
Orders placed before 1pm on a business day are dispatched the same day. UK delivery takes 1–4 business days.
Can I return it?
Yes, within 14 days if unused and in the original packaging. See the returns policy.
